Dreaming of Sylvi....

I accidentally found this on Ravelry, and now I'm smitten. Isn't it beautiful? It's knitted in chunky, so if anyone has a suggestion of how to make it on the cheap, I'd love to hear. I'm on an economy drive this year as I'm off to look at new kitchens this afternoon and I will need to cut back on the knitting front in order to pay for it. Having said that, I have joined the Debbie Abrahams Mystery Blanket club 2009. You get the yarn and the pattern sent to you each month and, I think, about 4 squares to knit per month. Well,I thought, I love Debbie Abrahams and I love knitting blankets, so it's a good combination for me. Expensive, though, but I'm ignoring that bit.

I have started on a cowl in the lovely Malabrigo silky that Stacey sent me last year, and am hoping to have a FO this weekend!!!!!

I'll leave you with a picture of our new year's day walk. That's my baby in the red jumper........

I love Sylvi too. It is worth giving New Lanark http://newlanarkshop.co.uk/ a call, they only have DK and Aran weight yarn on their website but I am reliably informed they do chunky too - you just have to call them. I've got some of the Aran weight, it is quite "woolly" but would be great for a jacket like this. The do shade cards for next to nothing too.
Have you tried Texere www.texere.co.uk too? They often have bargains.

I definitely understand why you dream of this gorgeous cardigan!! It's stunning....and so great in that colour. I think it would look good in a strong green colour too :0)

A very happy new year to you and your family :0)

I love that coat. What about Wendy Mode? They do a wool/acrylic mix at quite a reasonable cost.

Happy New Year!

You could take a look at Kemps spcial offers, they have some Patons Jet amongst other things at 69p a ball which might work for Sylvi :-)

That does look gorgeous but such a huge project too. Other than using acrylic yarn! I don't know how you'd keep the cost down.
The blanket Kal sounds neat.

Sylvi is stunning, isn't it? Fingers crossed that you find something bargainous to make it in! Good luck with the kitchen hunt too...

Happy New Year to you and yours...

Sylvi is gorgeous, yeh! I have this in my Rav queue, but because it'll take so much yarn, I'm kind of holding back to see how others get on with the pattern, etc.

I used some King Cole Homespun chunky last year, which feels nice, has some nice shades and is machine-washable. I don't think I could cope with a coat of this magnitude without being able to machine-wash it...

ps thanks so much for your kind comment on my blog - much appreciated.
