New Lines

I haven't done much knitting over the past couple of days. Apart from a huge pile of ironing, my time has been consumed by these....

I have a business with a friend and we mainly make hancrafted greetings cards, wedding stationery, birth announcements and so on. Recently we went onto a web site other than our own and we have seen a real increase in orders. Anyway, I have a couple of baby quilts that sell on the site and thought I would branch out into these as well, and see how they go. If you are interested in buying one, e mail me (they're £16!). Well, it's worth a try!

Tonight I have a Jazzercise class, and then I shall spend the rest of the evening knitting my beloved swing jacket. I should finish the back tonight, fingers crossed!

New template

I thought I would see how this blog looked with a different template behind it. Not sure if I prefer the old one with the spots, although everyone seems to have it! I do like the stitching lines down the side of this one. What do you think?

Been busy! aka crochet progress

I haven't posted for a couple of days, due to a few reasons. My swing jacket was, I decided, too small. I knew in the long run I would end up never wearing it, and so I decided to unravel the whole lot (the back and some of the right front) ans start all over again. :( It did break my heart, but it's done now and I am half way up the (biggger) back again...hooray.
Here is a pic of the progress (ignore the feeling of deja vu)....

I have also been busy trying to finish a quilt I started a while ago. I love it, but I am terrible at finishing things off, here is a little sample of it, I'll show you the whole thing when it gets finally finished, hopefully over the weekend.

Finally....crochet news! I went to my friend Maggie Wise's shop over the weekend, Sunflower Fabrics in Bedford. She is a multi talented lady, who designed the quilt above. She has been patiently trying to teach me crochet. Here is a picture of my progress so far...

As you can see, there is something funny and a bit skewiff happening on the middle four, however, I am keeping it as I fear if I unpick it, I'll never get the hang again. My DH said he didn't really like it as it reminded him of old ladies...I did have to explain that they were called GRANNY squares, and anyway, it has taken me so long to get the hang of them, I am not to be put off by anyone!

This is my effort next to the one that Maggie started off. If you don't look too closely, you can't tell the difference!

Which Tarot card are you?

Not sure what I think of Tarot, but I posted this as I definitely would like to be an Empress!

You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents,
beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home
decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

Swing jacket progress

Just to say that I have finished the back of the jacket! Not sure about the size as it seems a little small, and I swear I haven't put on that much weight in the 2 weeks I've been knitting it...well, maybe a bit... Anyway, the guage is good, so it's not that. I'm just hoping to stretch it when I block it. I am now on the right front, but no pictures, so I have posted one of my beautiful dog, Floss, at the sea side. She does have eyes, they are hidden by her ears blowing in the wind. Happy Mother's Day!

I have joined a KAL and, after waiting an absolute age to get the pattern, and then the yarn, then a lot of swatching to get guage, I am off! The stitch creates a lovely texture and I am really pleased with the colour I chose. I did the hem with the invisible knitting in method, well, purling in, in this case and it looks great!

It's the first time I tried that. I am impatient for it to grow though, it takes forever. I have a governor's meeting tonight, I wonder if anyone would mind if I was knitting..

Busy knitting

I haven't posted for a while as this week has flown. During the day I'm busy, then in the evening, apart from the usual I have been trying to knit. I am about 20 cm along the front of the brown Sublime cardigan (it's straight st st until 49 cm which is a little boring, but I am determined to finish it in time for Whitsun.) Also, my Phildar pattern arrived!!!!! I have ordered the yarn from considerthelily, it's DB cashmerino. I'll probably have to fiddle with the guage, as I am a loose knitter, but I wanted it to be soft and not scatchy or acrylicky. I am also trying to finish another DB bag in time for Whitsun and help my daughter with hers. (Not an easy task!) Must get back to it, as it's raining outside today a perfect knitting Sunday!
